Former “Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden” (GTST) actor Ferry Doedens is grappling with a resurgence of drug addiction and significant financial losses due to cryptocurrency gambling, as revealed in the upcoming Prime Video documentary, “Ferry Lost.” The documentary, set to stream from February 16, 2026, offers a raw and often painful appear at the actor’s current struggles.
The trailer for “Ferry Lost” depicts a stark contrast to Doedens’s early success, which began in 2009 when he landed the role of Lucas Sanders in the popular Dutch soap opera. His sister, Michelle, recalls the pride the family felt at the time, describing him as “a boy from Friesland” achieving national recognition. However, his initial run on GTST ended abruptly in 2015 following a cocaine addiction that led to his dismissal from the show.
Now, according to his manager Christian Looman, Doedens is facing a new crisis. “There are just crazy things happening,” Looman states in the documentary. A substantial portion of Doedens’s finances has been lost through investments in cryptocurrency. “He doesn’t have crypto under control, crypto has him under control,” Looman added.
Doedens himself acknowledges the financial strain, estimating losses of around 50,000 euros. Despite these losses, he continues to express optimism about the crypto market, stating, “With this coin, I’m doing well.”
Friends and family express deep concern for Doedens’s well-being. A friend, speaking anonymously in the documentary, describes a recurring pattern of late-night calls signaling a return to drug utilize. Michelle Doedens echoes these concerns, stating, “I just see it. It’s a boy who really needs help, but doesn’t see that himself.”
The documentary also touches upon recent legal troubles for Doedens. In late 2025, he spent a week in jail after failing to complete a 70-hour community service sentence stemming from a 2024 arrest for driving under the influence of GHB, speed and crystal meth. He had previously expressed shame regarding the initial sentence, according to reports.
“Ferry Lost” is currently streaming on Prime Video NL.
