Devo Brown, a prominent television personality in Toronto, announced on Thursday that he will be leaving Breakfast Television (BT) on March 27th, after eight years with the program. Brown revealed the decision during the morning broadcast, describing it as a difficult but ultimately necessary step in his career.
“This is a day I didn’t think would ever happen. It is completely surreal,” Brown told viewers, adding that the decision had been “a battle in my mind and my world for months.” He expressed a desire to pursue fresh opportunities in both Canada and the United States, stating he wants to approach the future with “zero regrets.”
Brown’s departure has prompted an outpouring of support from colleagues and fans. Dina Pugliese, his co-host on BT, shared a heartfelt message online, calling Brown a “true friend” and expressing excitement for his future endeavors. “We are going to miss you every single day,” Pugliese wrote. Other media personalities, including radio host Jax Irwin and journalist Brandon Gonez, similarly offered their congratulations and well wishes.
A well-known figure in Toronto media, Brown joined Breakfast Television in 2018. He currently serves as the show’s entertainment correspondent, alongside Pugliese, Sid Seixeiro and Meredith Shaw. Prior to his role on BT, Brown spent over a decade in radio, hosting programs on Flow 93.5 and KiSS 92.5. He currently hosts the nationally syndicated radio show, Set It Off.
Brown emphasized his gratitude for his time at BT, calling it a “thrilling ride” and acknowledging the support of his team. “I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the support, conversations, laughs and tears,” he said. He indicated he would share more details about his future plans at a later date.
The Toronto Sun reported that Brown’s announcement came as a surprise to viewers. The news follows a recent change to the BT hosting lineup, with Tim Bolen added as a new host and Dina Pugliese returning to the show after a two-year absence.
