Richmond, Virginia residents are experiencing an unseasonably warm spell, with temperatures expected to reach the 60s this week and potentially flirt with 70 degrees, according to CBS 6 News.

The brief respite from winter weather is expected to be temporary, however, as forecasters predict a return to colder conditions next weekend. Interactive radar is available to track the current rain falling across Virginia, CBS 6 reported Sunday afternoon.

The warming trend comes as the Richmond area continues to grapple with other local news events. Richmond police are investigating a shooting that left a man seriously injured at a local bodega, according to Crime Insider sources cited by CBS 6. Separately, authorities are sharing safety tips following Chesterfield’s first pedestrian death of 2026.

Elsewhere in the region, Virginia State Police arrested a Florida driver after a chase on Interstate 95 on Valentine’s Day. Local courts also saw activity, with a man shot multiple times in Richmond, and another critically injured outside a Richmond pizza parlor, both incidents under investigation by Crime Insider sources.

In sports, No. 15 Virginia defeated Ohio State 70-66 in Nashville, while VCU topped Richmond 78-67 on Valentine’s Day. James Madison defeated Appalachian State 69-58, and Longwood defeated South Carolina Upstate 82-75 in overtime. Florida State cruised past Virginia Tech 92-69.
