European retailers are increasingly adopting mobile point-of-sale (POS) systems, offering businesses greater flexibility in accepting cashless payments. Several companies are now offering integrated systems that combine POS functionality with payment terminals, streamlining transactions and improving customer experience.

Vectron Systems AG recently launched the POS M4 Pay, a device designed specifically for the hospitality sector. The system allows for order taking and direct card payment in a single device, reducing the need for separate terminals and saving staff time. The POS M4 Pay utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to process contactless payments, including girocard in Germany, and payments via smartphone. The system is currently available in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, with plans for further expansion.

Mollie, a payment service provider, offers a range of POS solutions, including mobile POS systems that enable businesses to accept payments via smartphone or tablet. Their “Tap” terminal is available starting at €45.00 with a Pro order, and they also offer a Mobile POS Terminal priced at €275.00, reduced from €550.00. Mollie emphasizes a centralized dashboard and local expertise as key features of its in-person payment solutions.

SCHULTES provides POS systems with its bluepos® software, supporting various cashless payment methods, including card and mobile payments. The bluepos® system allows for payment processing both at the cash desk and directly at the table using mobile devices. Their bluepos mobile® app facilitates order intake and payment completion on mobile devices, with options for printed or digital receipts.

Unzer launched the POS Travel device in October 2022, aiming to support retailers across Europe in transitioning to cashless, contactless payments. The company supports retailers throughout Europe in the transition to cashless, contactless payments at the point of sale.

These developments reflect a broader trend towards mobile and contactless payment solutions, driven by customer demand for convenience and efficiency. Businesses are seeking ways to optimize the payment process, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
