Rupert Lowe Launches Restore Britain as New Political Party with Elon Musk’s Backing

by Emma Walker – News Editor

Former Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe formally launched his Restore Britain movement as a new political party on Saturday, February 13, 2026, promising a departure from established political norms and a focus on issues including immigration and cultural preservation.

Lowe, who represents Great Yarmouth in Parliament as an independent, stated he had “no other choice” than to transform the movement into a fully-fledged party. The launch follows his expulsion from Reform UK last year following allegations of bullying, claims he vehemently denies. Restore Britain intends to operate as an “umbrella organisation,” partnering with locally-based parties to contest elections.

The new party has already garnered the public support of tech billionaire Elon Musk, who on Saturday encouraged his followers to join Restore Britain, stating Lowe “is the only one who will actually do it.” Musk previously suggested Lowe should replace Nigel Farage as leader of Reform UK, according to reports from February 2026.

In a launch video, Lowe outlined a vision for a party free from “failed ministers” and those “tainted by failures of the past,” a pointed reference to recent defections to Reform UK from the Conservative Party. He emphasized the importance of an independent inquiry into grooming gangs, stating that Restore Britain’s investigation was initiated only because the existing political system failed to act.

Restore Britain plans to field “hundreds of qualified candidates from outside the existing political establishment” at the next General Election, Lowe announced. These candidates, he said, would be individuals who have achieved success in their respective fields and are committed to improving Britain. The party will work with local groups, such as Great Yarmouth First, with Lowe intending to stand for re-election in his current constituency.

Several prominent Conservative figures had previously been involved with Restore Britain in its earlier iteration as a political movement. Susan Hall, the Conservative leader in the London Assembly, and Sir Gavin Williamson, a former minister, both served on the party’s advisory board. However, Sir Gavin Williamson indicated he would end his involvement following the formal establishment of Restore Britain as a political party.

Restore Britain’s founding principles, as outlined in June 2025, include advocating for the deportation of all illegal immigrants and protecting British culture, alongside the restoration of what it describes as “Christian principles.” The launch coincided with the formation of another right-wing party, Advance UK, by former Reform UK member Ben Habib.
