The event follows a memorable moment for Love during a game against Iowa State on January 27, 2025, where his last-second shot forced the game into overtime, ultimately resulting in an 86-75 Arizona victory.
Saturday’s schedule begins with ESPN’s College GameDay broadcasting live from the court between 8:00 a.m. And 10:00 a.m. Mountain Time. Following the broadcast, the University of Arizona women’s basketball team will host Arizona State University at noon. The latest installment of the Bear Down Bash concert series is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Outside the arena, setting the stage for the main event: the Arizona Wildcats men’s basketball team’s matchup against the No. 16 Texas Tech Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time.
The recognition of Caleb Love comes after a season that saw him produce a particularly memorable play at the McKale Center. A 60-foot shot by Love, described as “magical,” was a key moment in a game that also highlighted the performances of freshman Carter Bryant and the defensive contributions of KJ Lewis. Arizona Head Coach Tommy Lloyd praised the contributions of his top five players following that game, specifically mentioning the rebounding prowess of big man Tobe Awaka, who has been recognized as one of the best rebounders in the Big 12 conference.
The Texas Tech game marks a return to action for the Wildcats after a recent loss to Kansas, which ended their 23-0 start to the season – the best in school history and by any Big 12 team.
