A Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agent shot and killed Alex Jeffrey Pretti in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, according to video analysis published by Drop Site News.

The shooting occurred along Nicollet Avenue, where Pretti, a 37-year-old Minnesota resident, had reportedly gone to observe and assist after witnessing a person being pushed to the ground by an agent. Video footage shows an agent deploying a chemical irritant twice on Pretti before he was swarmed and wrestled to the ground by approximately eight agents. One agent then discharged a firearm multiple times at close range, striking Pretti. Ten gunshots were audible in the video, with at least five directly aimed at Pretti.

The incident is the third shooting involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and CBP in three weeks and took place one day after tens of thousands of Minneapolis residents protested federal raids in Minnesota, Drop Site News reported.

Ryan Grim, of Drop Site News, stated on X, “I’m not a lawyer but this looks like first degree murder, clear premeditation.”

Video analysis of the shooting, also published by Drop Site News, shows federal agents manhandling Pretti while he was face down on the ground, with one officer appearing to strike him three times immediately before the gunshots.

As of February 13, 2026, no official statement has been released by CBP regarding the agent’s actions or the circumstances leading to the shooting.
