A pedestrian was killed early Tuesday morning after being struck by a box truck on Interstate 35 near Onion Creek Parkway in South Austin, shutting down all southbound lanes for several hours. Austin police responded to the scene at approximately 3:55 a.m., according to a statement released by the department.

The incident occurred on I-35 southbound between Slaughter Lane and Onion Creek Parkway, causing significant traffic delays. Authorities urged drivers to seek alternate routes as investigators worked to clear the roadway. Traffic was restored after a “wash down” of the area around 8 a.m., police stated.
