A Frankfort man was arrested Sunday evening following an alleged domestic dispute that turned violent, according to Frankfort police. Omar Fierro, 23, is facing charges after allegedly strangling and striking his girlfriend in a vehicle on Beechwood Avenue.

Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at approximately 5:52 p.m. The victim told officers that Fierro placed his hands around her neck and squeezed, then repeatedly hit her in the head two to four times, resulting in a headache, according to an arrest citation.

Fierro reportedly left the scene in a Ford Fusion before officers arrived. However, a Frankfort police officer on patrol located the vehicle pulling out of a Sunoco gas station on East Main Street and detained Fierro. He admitted to being involved in a domestic incident, police said.

In addition to the assault charges, Fierro similarly faces multiple traffic violations. An emergency protective order (EPO) was served against him, and a warrant from Boyd County District Court was also served at the time of his arrest, according to the State-Journal.

Fierro is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
