Mediaset, Italy’s leading commercial broadcaster, has secured the free-to-air rights for the ATP Finals tennis tournament, beginning with the 2026 season. The agreement marks a shift in coverage for the prestigious event, moving it from the public-service broadcaster Rai.
The multi-year deal will notice Mediaset’s local networks broadcast eight matches from each tournament, according to reports, with an estimated annual rights fee of €4 million ($4.7 million). This acquisition underscores the growing interest in tennis within Italy, fueled by the recent successes of its national players.
Turin will continue to host the ATP Finals through 2030, following a renewal of the agreement between the ATP and the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation in November 2024. The city has hosted the event for the past five years, solidifying Italy’s position as a key location on the professional tennis circuit.
Italy’s recent dominance in team competitions has further heightened the nation’s profile in the sport. The Italian men’s team has claimed the Davis Cup title for the last three consecutive years, spearheaded by Jannik Sinner, currently ranked number two in the world, and Lorenzo Musetti, ranked number five. Sinner recently defended his ATP Finals title in November 2025, defeating Carlos Alcaraz.
While Mediaset gains free-to-air rights, Sky remains the primary broadcaster for the ATP Finals in Italy, holding the main rights package through 2028. Sky also broadcasts Wimbledon and the US Open. The broader Italian tennis broadcasting landscape remains fragmented, with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) holding pan-European rights to the Australian Open and French Open via Eurosport, DAZN broadcasting the ATP Challenger Tour, and SuperTennis covering the Davis Cup and BJK Cup.
The 2026 ATP Finals are scheduled to take place from November 15 to 22. The event is currently title sponsored by Nitto Denko, a Japanese materials manufacturer, with a sponsorship agreement extending through 2030.
