A small rockslide impacted Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Studio City on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, prompting a temporary lane closure and a police investigation following an incident involving a driver and a pedestrian.

According to initial reports, the rockslide occurred near the Fryman Estate area, a luxury residential neighborhood. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene after receiving calls about both the slide and a subsequent altercation. A driver reported that a pedestrian threw a drink and cup at their vehicle after they did not immediately stop when the rockslide began.

The incident occurred on a stretch of Laurel Canyon Boulevard known to residents as a frequent location for speed enforcement, according to LA Magazine. The area has been identified as having “L.A.’s Worst Speed Trap.”

Authorities have not released details regarding the identity of the pedestrian or the driver involved in the altercation. The LAPD is investigating the circumstances surrounding both the thrown objects and the pedestrian’s actions in relation to the rockslide. The extent of any damage to the vehicle is currently unknown.

The rockslide itself was described as small, consisting of loose rocks and debris falling onto the roadway. Crews were dispatched to clear the affected area and Laurel Canyon Boulevard was partially reopened after approximately two hours. No injuries were reported as a direct result of the slide.

Golden State Dermatology recently expanded its presence in the Greater Los Angeles area, including locations potentially accessible via Laurel Canyon Boulevard, though this expansion is not directly related to the current incident. The practice acquired two locations, according to a press release issued by PR Newswire.

The LAPD has stated that the investigation is ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available. As of Wednesday evening, no arrests had been made.
