Hungarian Politician Magyar Péter Alleged Sex Video & Blackmail Scandal

by Emma Walker – News Editor

Péter Magyar, a former communications official within the Hungarian government, has publicly stated he anticipates the release of an intimate video featuring him and a former girlfriend. Magyar, who recently founded the Tisza Party, made the statement in response to what he believes is an attempt to blackmail him. “I suspect they are planning to release a recording of an intimate encounter between myself and my former girlfriend,” he said, as reported by hvg.hu.

Magyar emphasized he would not yield to blackmail attempts, stating, “I have not, and will not, give in to any blackmail.” The emergence of this issue coincides with the rising political profile of the Tisza Party, which Magyar leads. He was elected leader of the party in January, according to The Budapest Times.

The timing of the alleged blackmail attempt is particularly noteworthy given the party’s recent gains in public support and its increasingly vocal stance on national issues. Notably, the Tisza Party has publicly backed Ukraine’s bid for European Union membership following a national consultation, as reported by EU Today. This position contrasts with the more cautious approach traditionally taken by Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party.

A mysterious website linked to Márk Radnai, a vice president of the Tisza Party, has as well recently appeared, according to reports. Further details surrounding the website and its connection to the alleged blackmail attempt remain unclear. Gábor Török, a political commentator, suggested the situation could reveal new information about politicians and their voters, as reported by Index.hu.

Magyar, 45, also stated, according to hvg.hu, that he “is a 45-year-old man who has a sex life.”
