Snowflake and OpenAI have formalized a multi-year, $200 million partnership designed to embed OpenAI’s artificial intelligence models, including the newly released GPT-5.2, directly within Snowflake’s data platform. The agreement, announced February 3, 2026, aims to provide Snowflake’s more than 12,600 global customers with a secure and governed environment to build and deploy AI applications.
Under the terms of the collaboration, OpenAI models will be natively integrated into Snowflake Cortex AI and Snowflake Intelligence. This integration will allow users to leverage natural language queries and context-aware agents to analyze data and automate workflows without moving data outside of Snowflake’s security perimeter, according to a statement released by Snowflake.
GPT-5.2, OpenAI’s most capable model currently available to customers on Snowflake Cortex AI, represents a significant advancement in artificial intelligence capabilities. The model demonstrates improvements in general intelligence, long-context understanding, agentic tool-calling, and vision, enabling it to handle complex tasks more effectively than previous iterations. According to OpenAI, GPT-5.2 outperforms industry professionals on knowledge work tasks spanning 44 occupations, as measured by the GDPval benchmark.
The partnership will enable Snowflake customers to build custom AI agents that can reason over governed data and take actions across applications and workflows. Organizations will as well be able to extract insights from both structured and unstructured data without requiring coding expertise, and accelerate product innovation using OpenAI’s Apps SDK, AgentKit, and APIs. Snowflake emphasizes that the integration will maintain secure, compliant operations with 99.99% uptime and integrated responsible AI controls.
Customers such as Canva and WHOOP are already utilizing the collaboration to integrate advanced AI into their existing workflows. The availability of GPT-5.2 on Snowflake Cortex AI was initially released in private preview on December 11, 2025, with broader availability planned through Snowflake Intelligence.
The collaboration is intended to accelerate AI adoption and enhance workforce productivity by combining Snowflake’s data platform with OpenAI’s AI models. Snowflake Cortex AI enables employees to access, query, and act on enterprise data using natural language, and the integration of OpenAI models aims to democratize access to AI-powered insights across organizations.
