A persistent supply constraint impacting key components is expected to delay the widespread adoption of AI PCs, potentially lasting into 2027, according to Gartner analyst Padhi.
This structural issue isn’t a temporary market fluctuation, and is currently hindering the delivery of true AI PC experiences to the mainstream market. Padhi explained that this situation is forcing manufacturers to make difficult choices – either increasing prices or reducing hardware specifications to maintain profit margins.
The resulting higher costs are creating a dilemma for businesses considering upgrades to AI-capable PCs, noted industry analyst Gold. Currently, much of the AI processing is still performed through cloud-based browsers, lessening the immediate incentive for companies to invest in new AI PC hardware.
