Update: Aladdin and The Lion King Cancel Performances as New York Braces for a Snowstorm

You’ve seen the news reports: a major winter storm is on the way. New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency Friday January 23, as meteorologists forecasted eight to 12 inches of snowfall beginning Sunday morning on January 25.People are stocking up at the grocery store to hunker down for the worst, which leaves one question for theater goers: Will the show go on for Broadway?
Well, it seems like we have an answer. Disney Theatrical Productions is the first Broadway company to cancel its performances for Sunday January 25. The Lion King and Aladdin will not be performing Sunday. Ticket buyers can contact their point of purchase for refunds.
New Jersey Transit, which many broadway workers use to get to their shows, has announced it will suspend operations beginning 4 AM Sunday. The MTA has said it plans to continue bus and subway operations in New York City.
