Intentional Crash at Shrewsbury Police Headquarters: driver Arrested, Investigation Underway
Shrewsbury, MA – A man intentionally drove his vehicle into the Shrewsbury Police
Department headquarters on Monday afternoon, narrowly missing dispatchers,
according to Police Chief Kevin Anderson. The incident, wich occurred just
after 2 p.m., has prompted an active investigation and raised concerns about
the driver’s motives.
Details of the Incident
The driver, operating a black 2022 BMW SUV, crashed through the front lobby
and into the dispatch room. Remarkably, despite the severity of the crash, no
officers, staff, or residents were injured. Three dispatchers were present in
the room at the time of the impact and were understandably shaken by the
event.
Chief Anderson emphasized the department’s good fortune, noting that a
training session had concluded in the area just 30 minutes prior to the
crash. The lobby is a high-traffic area, frequently used for trainings and
meetings due to the presence of two conference rooms.
Driver in Custody, Motive Unknown
The driver was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for
treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. While authorities beleive the
crash was intentional, the motive remains unclear. Chief Anderson stated that
the department is familiar with the individual, but declined to release his
name pending his arraignment on Tuesday.
“It appears to be intentional,” Anderson told reporters at a press
conference. “We do not have a motive at this time.”

Following the incident, the front lobby of the Shrewsbury Police Department

emergencies, the public was reminded to dial 911. Despite the damage, the

business and 911 emergency phone lines.
