At WWDC25, Apple introduced several new capabilities too the Photos app for iOS 26. Most notably, it reintroduced a tab bar layout after last year’s controversial single-page redesign. It also allows users to create spatial scenes from existing photos.
Beyond those headlining features, iOS 26 includes another underlying feature in the Photos app that many users will appreciate: event details. Here’s a closer look.
With iOS 26, if you attended a concert, sporting event, or major event, the Photos app will recognize it and group your photos accordingly. It will also provide insights about the event. For concerts, this includes the set list, performing artists, the venue, related playlists, and upcoming concerts. For sporting events, it displays the scoreboard, venue, and upcoming events.
Photos recognized as events will feature a special ticket button rather of the typical info button. Tapping this button opens the new events panel pictured below. Memories in the Collections tab will also be named after the specific concert or sports game you attended.
