Anthony Kim’s experience with LIV Golf has been challenging, notably after a 12-year hiatus from competitive play. “I think the first year,I was just trying not to shank the ball,” Kim admitted at the recent LIV Promotions event in Florida. He acknowledges that it took time to regain his competitive edge, stating, “After two years of practicing and playing competitive golf, I’ve started to find my footing.”

during his two years on LIV, Kim didn’t achieve a top-20 finish and was ultimately relegated. However, he showed promising form in the fall, with three consecutive cuts made on the Asian Tour, including a T5 at the Saudi International. he entered the LIV Promotions event aiming to secure one of the three available spots and, ultimately, a return to major championships.

“The goal is to get back to playing at the highest level,” Kim stated. “When you play against major championship winners week after week, you’re forced to get better, and it prepares you more for the majors.”

Kim secured his place in the weekend rounds of the LIV promotions event at Black Diamond Ranch with a clutch putt on the 18th hole. He emphasized that a spot on LIV isn’t his sole focus, noting,“I’ve played a lot of golf…My viewpoint on life has changed. This isn’t the only thing left for me. I’ve got a lot of things that I wont to do in the future.”

After scores reset following Round 2, Kim fired a third-round 66, placing him at four under and tied for second with Oliver Bekker and Jazz Janewattananond. Lucas Bjerregaard trails closely behind, one stroke off the lead.

Bjerregaard, a former DP World Tour winner, experienced a period of success in 2017 and 2018, even defeating Tiger Woods in a WGC event. However,he has since struggled with form and injuries, currently ranked 468th in the world. He views LIV as a potential catalyst for a return to form and a more supportive habitat. “these last few years have definitely been tough…LIV seems to be the opposite of that,” Bjerregaard said.

Three LIV spots are at stake on Sunday at Black Diamond Ranch. For players like Richard T.Lee and others, this final round represents a pivotal opportunity. For Kim and Bjerregaard, it’s simply the next step in their ongoing comebacks, nonetheless of the outcome.
