Meghan,Duchess of Sussex Reportedly Reaches Out to Estranged Father Following Amputation Reports
The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly made contact with her estranged father,Thomas Markle,after news emerged of his leg amputation. Sources confirmed to The Sun that Meghan reached out to her father following a health scare that resulted in the procedure.
The outreach follows years of a strained relationship between the Duchess and her father, marked by public disputes and differing accounts of events surrounding the royal wedding. Mr. MarkleS health struggles have been widely reported, including a heart attack prior to the 2018 wedding, which he cited as the reason for his absence.
According to The Sun, Mr. Markle underwent the amputation following complications from diabetes. He was initially hospitalized in early December and required multiple surgeries. The Duchess’s reported gesture comes after a period of estrangement, during which Mr. Markle has given numerous interviews to the media.
In a 2023 interview with The Mail on Sunday,Mr.Markle spoke about seeing his daughter’s achievements, stating, “Every day I see something about meghan. This week it has been the new TV show.” He also reflected on his absence from the wedding, attributing it to embarrassment over staged photographs and a subsequent heart condition.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were named Humanitarians of the Year in December 2023 for their philanthropic work. Meghan recently returned to Instagram with a new year beach video, coinciding with the release of a trailer for her Netflix lifestyle show.
