Woman Found Dead in Parked Car outside lake Illawarra Police Station
A 48-year-old woman was found deceased inside a parked car outside the Lake Illawarra Police Station in New South Wales on Friday afternoon,police have reported.
The discovery was made in the station’s car park, located on Pioneer Drive, south of Wollongong, at approximately 4:30 PM.Paramedics responded to the scene but were unable to revive the woman.
According to a statement released by NSW Police, preliminary investigations suggest the woman may have been in the vehicle since approximately 6:30 PM on Tuesday.
authorities have declared a critical incident due to the proximity of the scene to the police station. A critical incident investigation team from the South Coast will lead the investigation,with oversight from the Professional Standards Command and the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.
A report detailing the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death will be prepared for the coroner.
Police have stated the woman is believed to be a member of the public.
The discovery occurred during a heatwave affecting the New South Wales coast. Temperatures in nearby Albion Park reached nearly 38 degrees Celsius on Friday.
