Rupiah Edges Lower as Dollar Trades at‌ IDR 16,679 – December 5, 2025

Jakarta – ⁤The Indonesian Rupiah experienced a slight weakening against the⁣ US Dollar ⁣at the ‌start of trading⁢ this morning, December⁤ 5, 2025. As of 09:06 WIB (Western Indonesian Time), the Rupiah was trading at ‌IDR ⁤16,657 per ​US Dollar, a decrease of 0.02% from the previous day’s ‌close. These fluctuations in the Rupiah’s value impact Indonesian businesses engaged in international trade, consumers purchasing imported goods, and the overall stability of the Indonesian economy.​

Currency movements are closely watched by investors and policymakers alike, as the exchange rate⁤ influences inflation, foreign investment, and the cost of servicing Indonesia’s external debt. Continued monitoring of the Rupiah’s performance is crucial, notably given global economic uncertainties and potential⁣ shifts​ in US monetary policy. Bank rates as‍ of late morning reflect a narrow trading band, with buying and selling rates varying slightly between major Indonesian banks.

According to data from BCA e-Rate at ⁣10:34 WIB, the US Dollar was‍ being purchased at IDR 16,648 and ⁢sold at IDR 16,668. Bank Mandiri‘s special Rate,recorded at 09:00 WIB,showed ​a buying rate of IDR 16,640 and ⁣a selling rate of IDR⁤ 16,670. BNI’s Special Rates indicated a dollar buying ⁤rate of IDR 16,649 and a selling rate of IDR 16,679. BRI reported a US Dollar trading rate of IDR 16,646 for buying and IDR 16,673 for selling as of this morning.
