Raleigh Convention Center Fire: Events Postponed, Neighboring Centers Step In

Greenville, Fayetteville Convention Centers Extend Offer to Host Events as Raleigh Center Recovers

Fayetteville, NC & Greenville, NC – December 5, 2025 – Following a fire at the Raleigh Convention Center on Monday night, managers of the Greenville Convention Center and Crowne Center in Fayetteville have proactively offered their facilities to accommodate events previously scheduled for the Raleigh venue. As of today, neither center has received direct requests from event organizers seeking alternative locations, but both have indicated a willingness to assist.

The offer comes as Raleigh officials assess the extent of damage to the convention center’s roof and begin planning for repairs. The Raleigh Convention Center, described by Mayor Janet Cowell as an “meaningful civic asset,” was fortunately unoccupied at the time of the fire. The disruption, however, raises concerns about future events and the economic impact on the city. City engineers initiated a structural assessment of the roof on Tuesday to determine a timeline for safe reopening.

Mayor Cowell stated that temporary roofing will be installed to mitigate further water damage, but cautioned that a return to “normal basis” of operation will require time. “This is getting a little more complex, there are a lot of moving parts,” she acknowledged.

The city has not yet released a specific timeframe for repairs or reopening. Cowell expressed her desire to expedite the process, stating, “I will be interested to know how fast we can get this up and running.” The extent of the damage is visible in drone footage captured after the fire.
