ROTTERDAM, Netherlands – The Dutch handball team decisively defeated Tunisia, continuing their dominant run at the Handball World Cup held in the Netherlands and Germany. The Netherlands secured a comfortable victory, building on previous wins against Egypt (37-15) and Austria (34-22), and positioning themselves strongly for a quarter-final berth.
The match, played at Ahoy in Rotterdam, showcased the netherlands’ strength in both offense and defense. While the team eased off the accelerator in the second half after a 22-9 halftime lead, the outcome was never in doubt. Goalkeeper Yara ten Holte delivered an notable first-half performance, saving nine of eighteen shots faced, alongside a penalty save shared with Rinka Duijndam who also saved a penalty in the second half. Left corner Bo van Wetering lead the scoring with nine goals from ten shots and was named player of the match.
The World Cup, running from November 26 to December 14, sees the Netherlands competing in both Rotterdam and Den Bosch. Having achieved a maximum six points in the main phase – carrying over victories from the group stage – the Dutch team now faces Poland and France. The top two teams from this six-nation group will advance to the quarter-finals.
