Disney+ Secures Exclusive Rights ‌to Livestream Korean⁤ LoL‘s KeSPA Cup 2025 Across Asia-Pacific

SEOUL,‍ SOUTH KOREA⁣ – November 16, 2023 ​ – Disney+ is expanding ⁣its foray ‍into‌ esports, announcing⁤ today it will be the exclusive ​broadcaster of the Korea‌ e-Sports Association’s (KeSPA) annual League of Legends⁣ (LoL)⁣ tournament, the KeSPA Cup‍ 2025, across 11⁣ Asia-Pacific regions. The regions include ‌key⁢ markets⁣ like Korea, Japan, and Australia.

The competition, kicking off ‌this Saturday and running thru ‍December 14th, will be livestreamed in both Korean and English, with ⁣on-demand viewing options also available through the Disney+ platform.

This year’s‍ KeSPA Cup will feature‌ a total of 14 teams: 10 representing Korea‌ and four international squads hailing from Vietnam,‍ Japan, and⁢ North America. The ‌initial group ⁢and‌ breakout stages will be ‍hosted online, culminating in a live⁢ knockout stage held at the Sangam SOOP Colosseum ⁣in western Seoul.

The exclusive broadcast rights were secured through a contract signed in September between Walt ​Disney​ Company⁣ Korea and KeSPA. This agreement extends beyond the KeSPA Cup 2025,also ‍encompassing ⁤exclusive streaming ⁢rights for content related to the Korean esports national team as they⁣ prepare for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya ‍Asian Games ⁣in Japan.

Disney+ plans ‌to further engage fans by livestreaming warmup matches for the ‍national team leading up to the Asian Games,⁢ scheduled for ⁤September of next year. This move underscores Disney+’s growing commitment to delivering premium esports content to a rapidly expanding audience in‌ the Asia-Pacific region.
