Abu Dhabi is set for a thrilling formula 1 season finale with the World Championship title still up for grabs between Lando Norris (408 points), max Verstappen (396), and Oscar piastri (392). Veteran driver nico Hülkenberg has shared his viewpoint on the closely contested championship battle.
While Hülkenberg hopes to be challenging for the top spot himself at the Formula 1 World Championship showdown in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, he acknowledges the title fight will likely be decided between Norris, Verstappen, and Piastri.
Hülkenberg revealed a preference for a verstappen championship win, citing a long-standing friendship with the Red Bull driver.
Hülkenberg Backs Verstappen’s Championship Push
Hülkenberg praised Verstappen’s recent performance, stating, “He had such a good run compared to the McLaren duo Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, he made absolutely no mistakes.” He noted Verstappen overcame a significant points deficit, closing a gap of over 100 points from the summer to just 12 points behind the leader. “That’s still quite a lot, but we know that crazy things happen in formula 1. Max knows how to fight for titles, pressure is no problem for him and he has nothing to lose, he can only win.”
Statistically, norris holds the advantage, needing only a podium finish to secure the championship independently.
Hülkenberg anticipates a spectacular finale, expressing his eagerness to follow the action: “I’ll watch it as far as it’s possible from my position,” he said with a wink: “There are big screens along the track. It’s good for the sport that the title fight is still open.”
