Drunk Raccoon Causes Chaos at Virginia Liquor Store, Briefly Detained
Ashland, VA – A raccoon is recovering after a night of apparent revelry at a liquor store in Ashland, Virginia, over the weekend. The animal gained entry to the store Friday night and proceeded to wreak havoc, breaking bottles of whiskey and other liquors before passing out in the bathroom.
According to police reports, the raccoon managed to access the lower shelves, consuming a significant amount of alcohol before succumbing to its effects. A store employee discovered the inebriated animal Saturday morning.
“They are vrey funny little bugs,” commented Samantha martin, the local animal control agent, to the press. “He fell through one of the ceiling tiles and got angry,so he drank it all.”
Images of the raccoon, lying amongst broken glass and empty bottles, have quickly gone viral on social media. Authorities have taken the incident in stride, joking that they hope the raccoon has learned that “entering without authorization is not the solution.”
The raccoon was taken to a local animal shelter where it reportedly slept for several hours. Martin confirmed the animal showed no signs of injury beyond a potential “hangover and bad life decisions.”
This isn’t the first instance of a raccoon making headlines for unusual behavior, but it’s certainly one of the more spirited. The incident serves as a lighthearted reminder of the sometimes unpredictable nature of wildlife encounters.
