Échirolles, France – A 33-year-old man was discovered deceased early Wednesday morning in the center of Échirolles, a commune near Grenoble in the Isère department. Emergency services responded to a report of an unresponsive individual found next to a scooter on Rue Georges-Méliès at approximately 2:00 a.m.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene after resuscitation attempts by firefighters and medical personnel proved unsuccessful. Preliminary findings from the forensic doctor indicate the man sustained two gunshot wounds – one to the back and another to the jaw – and was found “in a pool of blood,” according to police sources. The death has triggered a formal inquiry led by the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS), formerly known as the PJ, under the direction of the Grenoble public prosecutor, Etienne Manteaux. The investigation aims to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify any potential suspects. Prosecutor Manteaux has not released further details at this time. This incident marks a rare instance of gun violence in the typically quiet Grenoble suburb and raises concerns among local residents. The DCOS investigation will focus on gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing forensic data to establish a timeline of events and bring those responsible to justice.
