Stuttgart Defender Jaquez Faces Continued Injury Setback
STUTTGART, germany – VfB Stuttgart defender Luca Jaquez is again sidelined due to a thigh injury, adding to a challenging season for the Swiss player, coach Sebastian Hoeneß announced Tuesday. The injury occurred during training and comes after Jaquez recently returned from adductor problems and a prior broken nose that hampered the start of his season.
Jaquez had initially secured a place in Stuttgart’s central defense, but recurring injuries have disrupted his progress. He previously missed Sunday’s Bundesliga game against HSV and will also be unavailable for wednesday’s DFB Cup match against VfL Bochum. The team has seen Jeff Chabot and Finn Jeltsch solidify their positions in central defense during Jaquez’s absences.
Hoeneß also provided updates on other injured players ahead of the Bochum clash. Ermedin Demirović (foot injury), Yannik Keitel (muscle injury), dan-Axel Zagadou (serious muscle injury), and justin Diehl (ankle) are confirmed to miss the game.
The coach indicated uncertainty surrounding the availability of Tiago Tomás, stating, ”It will be tight for Tiago Tomás tomorrow.” Regarding Chris Führich, who was substituted during Sunday’s match against HSV, Hoeneß said, “Chris Führich’s injury isn’t too bad.We have to look for tomorrow.”
VfB Stuttgart will face VfL Bochum in the DFB Cup round of 16 on Wednesday, December 3rd, with kick-off at 6 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ARD and Sky.
