Miss universe 2024 Firmly Denies Plans to Relinquish Crown Amid Controversy
LAS VEGAS - Fátima Rocha Cantú, teh reigning Miss Universe 2024, has emphatically stated she has no intention of giving up her title despite swirling controversy surrounding her win and allegations of conflicts of interest. Rocha Cantú addressed the rumors directly in a recent interview with U.S.-based media, affirming her belief that she rightfully earned the crown.
The controversy stems from speculation regarding a potential business relationship between Rocha cantú and her father, Bernardo Bosch Hernández, who has held strategic positions within Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex). This has fueled calls for her to step down, but rocha Cantú maintains the integrity of the competition. When directly asked if she had considered relinquishing the crown, she responded with a resolute, “Of course not, because I deserve that crown and this sash.”
Rocha Cantú emphasized that she dedicated the same level of effort as her fellow contestants and successfully navigated the same challenges. “I made the same effort as all my classmates, I made the same commitment that all my classmates made, we passed exactly the same tests and I won, so why would I give up something I worked for?” she stated.
Acknowledging the online backlash to her coronation, Rocha Cantú expressed pain at the personal attacks directed towards her and her family. though, she remains committed to using her platform for philanthropic and social causes. “It is very unfair that they do that…they attack my family, they attack me but, when god puts a purpose in your heart, there will be a lot of adversity, and I am not going to stop being here, because I am only in this Universe, for philanthropy, and for social causes,” she explained.
The Miss Universe Organization has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the allegations or Rocha Cantú’s response. The competition, owned by JKN Global Group, has faced increased scrutiny in recent years regarding transparency and fairness. The 73rd Miss Universe competition is scheduled for 2025.
