POKROVSK, Ukraine – Russian forces have claimed full control of the city of Pokrovsk in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, a growth that could threaten a nearby Ukrainian army garrison and represents Moscow’s largest territorial gain since November 2024. The capture, announced by Russian officials, follows weeks of intense fighting and comes as Russia intensifies it’s offensive in eastern Ukraine.
Pokrovsk, located in the kharkiv region, had been devastated by combat since May 2024.
