Dentist fights for life after alleged medical negligence, police book doctor | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad, India – 2024/02/29 – A‌ dentist is fighting for his life in a Hyderabad ‍hospital after what his family alleges was criminal medical negligence during a⁤ routine dental procedure. Police have registered a case against the doctor involved,⁣ initiating an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

dr. Raghuveer, 38, underwent‍ a root canal treatment at the dentist’s clinic on⁤ 2024/02/26. Family members report that Dr.Raghuveer began experiencing severe complications shortly after the procedure, rapidly deteriorating and requiring immediate hospitalization. Authorities state⁣ the complaint alleges improper administration of anesthesia and subsequent mismanagement of the resulting complications. This case highlights growing ⁢concerns regarding patient safety and accountability within the private healthcare sector in Hyderabad, and the investigation’s outcome could‌ set a precedent for similar allegations.

The Jubilee Hills Police confirmed they have booked the dentist,Dr.⁢ S. Kumar, under Section 308 ​of the Indian Penal Code (attempt to culpable homicide), following a complaint filed by Dr. Raghuveer’s brother, Anand. “We are currently gathering evidence, including medical records and statements from witnesses,‌ to ascertain the facts of the case,” stated⁢ inspector V. Ramesh. “Dr. ⁣Kumar has been asked to cooperate with the investigation.”

Dr. Raghuveer is currently on ventilator support at Apollo Hospitals, where doctors describe his condition as critical but stable. A medical bulletin released by the hospital on 2024/02/29⁢ indicated that he is being closely monitored for ⁤neurological complications.
