Samsung Galaxy Wireless Charging Speeds Poised for First Major Update in Years

Seoul, South Korea – Hidden code within the latest One UI 8.5 build suggests Samsung is preparing a notable upgrade to wireless charging speeds on its Galaxy smartphones, potentially ending years of stagnation. A newly discovered string references “Super fast wireless charging” alongside a percentage indicator, signaling a forthcoming differentiation from the current “Fast wireless charging” branding.

For years, Samsung Galaxy S flagships have been limited to 15W wireless charging, first introduced with the Galaxy S20 series in 2020. While competitors have pushed wireless charging speeds to 50W-80W, Samsung has remained at the same level. This discovery indicates a change is coming with the anticipated Galaxy S26 series, rumored to launch next year.

The code, uncovered through an APK teardown, specifically includes the line <string name="kg_power_super_fast_charging_wirelessly">Super fast wireless charging: %d%%</string>. Notably, this string lacks a version number, unlike the code related to wired charging improvements.

Rumors suggest the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus coudl see an increase to 20W wireless charging, while the S26 Ultra may jump to 25W. This upgrade is projected to reduce wireless charging times by as much as 40%. it remains unclear which speed will be designated as “Super fast wireless charging.”

⚠️ It’s important to note that APK teardowns reveal features under progress and do not guarantee a public release.
