COLUMBUS,Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team concluded its season with a 25-16,25-13,25-20 defeat to no. 1 Nebraska on Saturday evening. The loss marked the Buckeyes‘ ninth match against a ranked opponent this season.
The defeat concludes Ohio State’s season,finishing with a record impacted by a challenging schedule featuring nine contests against teams in the national rankings. Despite the loss, the Buckeyes showcased competitive stretches, notably in the third set, demonstrating resilience against a dominant Nebraska squad.The match highlighted individual performances, with several players contributing offensively and defensively.
Nebraska controlled the first set, not allowing Ohio State to score more than two unanswered points. The Huskers secured a 25-16 victory. In the second set, Ohio State opened the scoring, but Nebraska responded with 6-0 and 5-0 runs to establish a 13-3 lead. While the Buckeyes rallied with a 4-0 run and later a 3-0 run to close the gap, Nebraska ultimately won 25-13. the third set saw a tighter contest, with Ohio State battling back from a 15-12 deficit to within one point at 20-19, fueled by a 6-2 run, before Nebraska closed out the match 25-20.
Hannah Jones lead the Buckeyes with 10 kills,marking the 16th match this season she reached double-digit kills. Olivia Hasbrook recorded 10 digs, her 18th match of the season with 10 or more. Six different Ohio State players registered a kill,with Jones,Hasbrook,and another teammate each recording seven or more.All 10 of Ohio State’s kills in the first set were set by Mia Tuman.
