Fortnite Players Faced Widespread Issues During ‘Zero Hour’ Live Event
Raleigh, NC - A critically important number of fortnite players experienced server connection issues and game crashes during the highly anticipated “Zero Hour” live event on November 29, 2023, disrupting the experience for many.Approximately 67 percent of users reported problems, according to downdetector, with outages impacting areas including New York and Los Angeles.
The live event, described by Epic Games as a gathering of “legends assemble to save reality from the Dark Presence,” was plagued by technical difficulties as players attempted to participate.Reports flooded social media and Downdetector, detailing black screens, game crashes, and difficulty loading into the event.
“whoever missed the event, try watching on youtube,” one user commented on Downdetector. Others simply stated, ”game crashed lmfaooo.” On X (formerly Twitter), players shared screenshots of their frozen screens with the hashtag #fortnitecrash, with one user writing, “Fortnite crash #fortnite #CRASH #fortnitecrash server down.”
One player detailed a recurring issue: “Bro is this only happening to me or happened to you guys? Because In the middle of the event, the screen went black and there was a pause. After that, I exited and re-entered. The event started again and the same thing happened. !Ali’s event was ruined Is there a replay?”
Fortnite Status advised players experiencing loading issues to restart their game client and re-queue.
While a permanent fix rests with epic Games, players experiencing a black screen can attempt troubleshooting steps such as updating their graphics drivers or verifying the integrity of game files through the Epic Games library. To verify files, users should navigate to the three dots next to Fortnite in their Epic Games library, select “manage,” and then “verify.”
This is not the first time Fortnite has faced server issues during a major event. A similar outage occurred earlier in November during The Simpsons event.
