No. 25 Penn State women’s Volleyball Falls 3-0 at No. 1 Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. – in a dominant performance, the No. 1 Nebraska Cornhuskers defeated the no. 25 Penn State Nittany Lions 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-14) in a Big Ten Conference matchup held Friday at the Devaney Centre. The loss drops Penn State to 17-12 overall and 11-8 in conference play with only one regular season game remaining. Nebraska continues its perfect season, improving to 29-0, with a 19-0 record in Big Ten action.
Leading the Nittany Lions in scoring was Kennedy Martin, who recorded 11 kills. This marks the 80th consecutive match in which Martin has reached double-digit kills when playing at least three sets. Gillian Grimes anchored the Penn State defense with a team-high nine digs.
Nebraska’s offensive attack proved too strong for Penn State, led by Harper Murray’s efficient performance of 11 kills on a .476 hitting percentage. Rebekah allick contributed nine kills with an impressive .750 hitting percentage, adding four blocks to the Cornhuskers’ strong front-row presence.
The Cornhuskers are now aiming to become the first NCAA Division I women’s volleyball team to complete an undefeated season, including postseason play, since Penn State achieved the feat in 2009. Notably, Penn State remains the only program in NCAA history to accomplish this twice, also completing an undefeated season in 2008.
