Roy‘s overtime Goal Secures Victory for Patriotes UQTR in Winter Classic
The UQTR Patriotes emerged victorious after a hard-fought contest against an unnamed opponent in the Ellipse Assurances Winter Classic, with Pier-Olivier Roy scoring the game-winning goal at 4:19 of overtime. The win continues the Patriotes’ season and builds momentum heading into their next home game.
The match, played on November 29, 2025, was a tightly contested affair from the opening face-off. Despite a first period characterized by nine shots on goal for each team and a total of six penalties, the score remained tied. UQTR gained a slight edge in shots throughout the game, leading 22-16 after two periods, but neither team could break the deadlock in regulation. Both goaltenders delivered strong performances, keeping the game scoreless through three periods and three additional penalties.
Roy’s sixth goal of the season ultimately sealed the victory for the Patriotes.
The Patriotes will return to action tomorrow,Saturday,november 30,at the Colisée Jean-Guy Talbot,where they will face the Royal Military College Paladins.
