Potsdam‘s Queer Association is urgently collecting donations to support individuals impacted by a recent surge in HIV cases and to bolster resources for the city’s LGBTQ+ community, following the release of data showing rising infection rates in Brandenburg.
The initiative comes as the Robert Koch Institute reports nearly 100,000 people in Germany are living wiht HIV.Brandenburg has seen an increase in reported cases, partially attributed to the greater availability of at-home testing. The Potsdam association aims to provide financial and emotional support to those newly diagnosed, as well as fund preventative programs and advocate for improved queer healthcare access within the city. A new action plan is also underway to strengthen queer life in Potsdam, addressing systemic challenges and promoting inclusivity. Donations will directly contribute to these efforts, ensuring vital services remain available and accessible to the community.
