Intense Rainfall and Strong Winds Forecast for 72 Hours Across Mexico

A 72-hour period of intense rainfall and strong wind gusts is expected to⁤ impact a large portion ⁤of Mexico,beginning immediately.​ The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN) forecasts the heaviest precipitation will ‍concentrate⁢ in the east, southeast, and ​parts of⁢ the central-south, with the highest⁤ accumulations ⁤anticipated in Veracruz, the ⁤Huasteca ​region, Nuevo León, and ⁢Quintana ⁤Roo. Scattered⁣ showers​ are also⁣ predicted over mountainous areas in central and western ‍Mexico, including⁢ Durango,‌ Nayarit, Zacatecas, Michoacán, Guerrero, and ‍Oaxaca, though these ⁢events are expected to yield less than 15 millimeters of rain.

This weather‌ system poses a risk of flooding, ⁢particularly ​in low-lying areas, and could disrupt ‌travel and daily life for millions. Coastal regions are also bracing for potentially ‌hazardous conditions due to the strong winds. While temperatures will fluctuate throughout the weekend, the primary concern remains the important⁤ rainfall and its potential consequences.

Temperature Outlook:

* Friday: ​Maximum temperatures of 15 ⁢to 25 ⁢°C are forecast for​ much of the ⁣north, ‌center, and east,⁤ including Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Puebla, Tlaxcala, ⁣State of‍ Mexico, Mexico City, Veracruz, Oaxaca,⁢ and Aguascalientes. Mountainous regions ​may experience temperatures ​between 5 and ‌15 °C,accompanied by dense fog in the Sierra Madre Oriental.
* Saturday: A warming trend is expected, with temperatures rising to 20 to⁢ 30 °C in the ‌northeast, east, and center,‍ and 30 to⁢ 35 ⁣°C in coastal​ areas. The Yucatan ‌Peninsula and Pacific coast could see temperatures reach 36-38 ​°C. Cooler temperatures, ‍between 12 and 19 °C, will persist in the north and northwest.
* sunday: A marked temperature decline is ‌predicted⁣ for Coahuila, Nuevo León, and ‌Tamaulipas, with maximums of 10-15 °C‍ under cloudy skies and fog. Border​ areas⁢ with Texas may experience temperatures dropping to 5-10​ °C in the afternoon.⁣ the Altiplano will ‌be around 20-25 ⁣°C, while the remainder of‍ the country will see temperatures between 25-35⁤ °C.
