Queen Letizia Dazzles in Historic Tiara for German State Dinner in Madrid
Madrid, Spain – Queen Letizia of Spain hosted a gala dinner at the Royal Palace on November 26, 2025, in honour of the President of Germany, showcasing a breathtaking tiara with deep royal history. The Queen paired the Spanish Floral Tiara – a piece rarely seen – with significant diamond earrings and a sentimental ring, marking a striking display of both diplomatic elegance and familial legacy.
The choice of the Spanish Floral Tiara, originally commissioned by Queen Maria Christina of Austria in 1902 for her daughter-in-law,Princess Victoria of Battenberg, underscores the importance of the state visit and Spain’s continued diplomatic ties with Germany. The tiara, a symbol of Spanish royalty, has been worn by several queens, most recently by Queen Sofia. Queen Letizia’s selection of jewels also included diamond earrings gifted to Queen Ena (Victoria Eugenie) in 1906 as wedding presents from King Alfonso XIII, part of a collection of passing jewels inherited through the monarchy.
For the gala, Letizia complemented the tiara and earrings with her gold Coreterno ring, frequently worn since January 2023 and believed to be a gift from King Felipe. The dinner signifies a continuation of royal tradition in welcoming foreign dignitaries and solidifies Queen Letizia’s role as a modern ambassador of Spanish style and heritage.
