‘Stranger Things’ Creators Confirm No ‘Running Up That Hill’ Repeat, Cast & Director Hype Finale
Los Angeles, CA – The Duffer Brothers are signaling a departure from the musical formula that propelled Season 4 of Stranger Things to record-breaking viewership, while cast members and a director are generating significant buzz around the upcoming finale. The creators confirmed they intentionally avoided replicating the success of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill,” opting instead for “very different musical moments” in the second volume of the season and the finale itself.
The decision comes as anticipation builds for the final two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4, set to be released in theaters and on Netflix on New Year’s Eve. The Duffers’ comments, alongside enthusiastic reactions from stars Sadie Sink, Noah Schnapp, and Finn Wolfhard, and director Shawn Levy, suggest a satisfying conclusion to the series’ overarching narrative and individual character arcs.
Regarding the military’s role in confronting the escalating threats, the Duffers playfully deflected direct answers, urging viewers to “click on it” to find out what happens next on Netflix. However, the focus remains on the climactic finale, which Levy described as “one of the best finale episodes of any show that I’ve ever seen,” echoing Wolfhard’s own praise.
Sink and Schnapp both expressed satisfaction with their characters’ endings and the overall resolution of the series. ”I feel very satisfied and excited for all our characters and how the show wraps up,” schnapp stated. Sink added, “I was satisfied with the whole thing. I think everyone’s really – the Duffers did an amazing job. I think we all got the closure that we wanted.”
