Celtic Selects wilfried Nancy as New Manager, Efrain Juárez Remains with Pumas
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND – Celtic has chosen Wilfried Nancy as its next manager, passing over Mexican coach Efrain Juárez for the position, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The agreement with Nancy, currently managing Columbus Crew of Major League soccer adn the 2023 MLS Cup champion, is nearing completion with only “final details to be finalized.”
Nancy’s arrival marks a important move from the MLS to European elite football, recognized for his attacking style of play. Juárez, a former Celtic player, had been considered a candidate due to his familiarity with the club and recent coaching experience as an assistant in Belgium and New York, and as a coach in mexico.
The decision ends speculation linking Juárez to a return to Parkhead. He remains the technical director of Pumas UNAM, with no official indication of a change in leadership following the club’s elimination in the Apertura 2025 Play-In tournament. As a result,Juárez is expected to remain on the Pumas bench for the next tournament.
Despite Juárez’s aspirations to coach in Scottish football, Celtic opted for Nancy’s rising profile, closing the door on a potential return to Glasgow for the former national team player.
