Led by Pérez González and Colonel Héctor González Hernández,‌ second in command of the Anti-Drug Body, the meeting focused on recognizing successful detection efforts, discussing ⁣the challenges of ‍combating drug trafficking, and reviewing current legal frameworks.

Pérez ‌González ⁢emphasized the⁢ importance of continuous training for border security personnel ⁣and maintaining a high level of ⁤vigilance, particularly amongst younger⁢ customs officers. These efforts extend beyond the airport and port, encompassing ongoing activities at the mercantile Control⁣ Customs Office and the National Customs Training School, all contributing to a thorough national strategy for drug prevention and enforcement. Cuba views a firm⁣ stance against drug trafficking as a cornerstone of its national security, achieved through strong inter-agency⁤ cooperation.
