Saraya Expresses Joy and Mixed Emotions Over AJ Lee & Nikki Bella’s WWE Returns
CHICAGO, IL - Former WWE Divas Champion Saraya, known to fans as Paige, has publicly reacted to the recent returns of AJ Lee and nikki Bella to the company, expressing both happiness and a touch of wistfulness. Both Lee and Bella have made notable impacts as re-emerging in WWE in 2025, marking a revival of the “Divas era” that captivated audiences a decade ago.
Saraya, who forged close bonds with both women during their time in WWE, shared her thoughts in a recent interview with the Toronto Sun. She admitted to being less surprised by Nikki Bella’s return, citing the star’s enduring passion for professional wrestling. Though, AJ Lee’s comeback after a ten-year absence was a genuine shock. “I thought she would never come back again,” Saraya stated. “It was such a marvelous surprise to see her. I’m so proud of her and I’m so happy for her. I just absolutely adore her. She’s my fairy godmother is what I always called her.”
The returns of Lee and Bella signal a potential shift in WWE’s women’s division,bringing veteran experience and star power to a landscape currently dominated by newer talent. Nikki Bella is currently slated to challenge Stephanie Vaquer for the WWE Women’s World Championship at Survivor Series, while AJ Lee is scheduled to compete in her first-ever WarGames match at the same event, aligning with Charlotte Flair, the final Divas Champion.
Despite her excitement for her former colleagues, Saraya acknowledged a bittersweet feeling. “There’s a bittersweet feeling where I’m like, damn. At times I wish I could get in the ring with them and stuff like that,” she confessed. “Then sometimes I’m like, no, this is their time, and thay’re going to do and flourish the way they need to. But I’m proud of them nonetheless.”
