Teesdale Hit-Run: 84-Year-Old Woman Charged in Death of Six-Year-Old Boy
TEESDALE, VIC - An 84-year-old woman has been charged following a hit-run collision that tragically claimed the life of a six-year-old boy in Teesdale, Victoria, on March 27th. Caleb Wesley was walking to school with two older siblings, aged nine and twelve, along Bannockburn-Shelford Road at approximately 8:05 am when he was struck by a vehicle.
Police allege the vehicle involved left the scene immediately after the collision. The car was later located at a residence in Teesdale.
The 84-year-old woman,a resident of Teesdale,has been charged with failing to stop after a crash,failing to render assistance,and failing to report a collision. She has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear in court on friday.
The incident has deeply impacted the Covenant College community, which Caleb attended. Principal Joshua McEwen described the school as “devastated” by the news.
“This has come as a huge shock to our close school community at Covenant college,” McEwen said. “Our sympathies and prayers are with the family and we are offering support to them, as well as to students, staff and those affected by this loss. At this time our priority is the wellbeing of our school community, and we are praying that God’s peace and comfort will prevail for all at this time.”
