Google Assistant to Be Discontinued in March 2026, Replaced by Gemini
Google is phasing out its long-standing Google Assistant, with full discontinuation planned for march 2026. The move comes as the tech giant prioritizes its newer, more advanced AI model, Gemini, as the primary interface for users across Google products.
For over a decade,Google assistant has been a central feature for simplifying user experiences. However,Gemini offers the same functionality and expanded capabilities. Google has already begun transitioning users, with Gemini now the default AI assistant on platforms like Android Auto.
While google hasn’t issued a formal public statement, information posted on the official Google Assistant and Talk To Gemini support forum confirms Assistant will remain operational untill March 2026, though a specific date within the month hasn’t been announced.
Users currently relying on Google assistant can continue to do so until the deadline. though, Google emphasizes that the user experience will be largely identical when switching to Gemini, with the added benefit of accessing more advanced features. While personal preference for Assistant is acknowledged, the eventual transition to Gemini is unavoidable.
