Raymond L. Hall: A Life of Quiet Grace and Deep Connection
raymond “Ray” Londell Hall, a resident of West Lebanon, NH, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, intellect, and devoted family life. Born in Marshall, Texas, Ray earned his Bachelor’s degree from Morehouse college and later attended the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College, obtaining a Master’s degree.
Ray dedicated his career to Dartmouth College, where he worked for many years.It was at Dartmouth that he met Linda Barton, who became his partner of over thirty years. Together, they built a blended family, enjoying travel, tennis, theater, and the companionship of their beloved Shih Tzu, Rudy.
Ray was first married to bonnie (maiden name not mentioned) in 1972. They settled in Hanover, N.H., and raised their three daughters, anna, Bonnie, and Morgan.Though they divorced in 1992, they maintained a respectful and caring friendship, united by their love for their children.
Those who knew Ray described him as a warm-hearted, smart, and personable introvert. While he cherished his solitude, he also valued connection and cultivated many lasting friendships. He possessed a competitive spirit,enjoying games of chess,and was a passionate fan of tennis and basketball. A gifted musician, Ray could play the piano by ear. He also relished thoughtful discussions on social and political issues.
Ray’s daughters remember a gentle and loving father who imparted wisdom through poetic verses. he was a constant presence in their lives,attending college games and sharing quiet walks,often hand-in-hand,filled with conversation or comfortable silence. He demonstrated his dedication to family by providing childcare for his first grandchild, allowing her mother to focus on her career. he continued to nurture these close bonds with his daughters throughout their lives, offering encouragement, sharing laughter, and always ending their conversations with “I love you.”
Ray is survived by his partner,Linda barton of West lebanon,NH,and his daughters,Anna,bonnie,and Morgan,and their families.
A private burial will be held at Pine Knoll Cemetery in Hanover, N.H.A public festivity of life reception is planned for the Spring of 2026 in the Upper Valley, with details to be announced.
