Bogotá Launches Free Fiber Optic Internet for Residents in Bosa and Suba
Bogotá, Colombia – Thousands of households in the Bosa and Suba neighborhoods will soon have access to free, high-speed internet thanks to a new initiative announced by Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán. The program, spearheaded by the Secretariat of Social Integration, aims to bridge the digital divide and connect underserved communities to opportunities in employment, education, and entertainment.
The initiative will provide a 25 megabyte fixed internet connection via fiber optics to the first 27,000 homes in Bosa and Suba, areas identified as having high population density and limited existing fixed internet coverage. Roberto Angulo Salazar, Secretary of Social Integration, described the program as “the spearhead of the modernization of Bogotá’s social policy.” Beyond free internet access, beneficiaries will gain access to EdTech, a digital education and training platform offering study tools, training resources, and entertainment content.
