Former 1860 Munich Star Nono Koussou Seriously Injured in Traffic Accident
Munich – Nono Koussou, a celebrated figure in the recent history of TSV 1860 Munich, was struck by a car at the intersection of Schleißheimer Straße and another roadway, sustaining severe injuries. The 33-year-old underwent emergency surgery following the incident and was initially placed in a medically induced coma.
Koussou is best known as a key member of the 1860 Munich team that achieved promotion in 2018, ending the club’s stint in the Regionalliga. The accident has sent shockwaves through the Munich football community, raising concerns for the well-being of the former player who remains a fan favorite.He is now showing signs of recovery, according to a statement released Saturday evening.
Police reports indicate the driver of the vehicle was attempting a left turn when they accelerated and lost control,colliding with Koussou,who was a pedestrian.The impact resulted in a severe head injury for Koussou, necessitating immediate surgical intervention.
Koussou rose to prominence with 1860 Munich, notably playing a pivotal role in the dramatic 2018 promotion playoff against Saarbrücken, where he drew an early red card for the opposing team. A product of both 1860 Munich and FC Bayern Munich’s youth academies, Koussou also played for the Löwen during thier time in the 2. Bundesliga in the 2013/14 season.
Following his professional playing career, Koussou transitioned into modeling and fitness training.
after several days in intensive care, Koussou communicated with BILD via voice message on Saturday, stating, “I’m doing quite okay, I’m on the mend.” His condition remains under observation as he continues his recovery.
