Oklahoma City, OK – A man suspected in a series of shootings, including two homicides and multiple carjackings, was shot and killed by Oklahoma City police Friday after a pursuit ended near Interstate 240 and eastern Avenue.
The crime spree began early Saturday morning in Moore, where the suspect shot two people at a residence, resulting in one fatality and one injury. He then carjacked a vehicle and fled, later abandoning it near Northwest 11th Street and May Avenue in Oklahoma City, where he stole a white truck.
The suspect continued to Northeast Oklahoma City, shooting and killing an individual outside a location near Northeast 26th Street and Martin Luther King Avenue.
Police located the suspect Saturday afternoon near Southeast 44th Street and Interstate 35. After refusing to stop, he led officers on a chase that concluded near Interstate 240 and Eastern Avenue. The suspect crashed after driving through a grassy area and crossing the median, then attempted to carjack another person before being shot and killed by police.No other injuries were reported during the final attempted carjacking.
The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on routine administrative leave.
Authorities have stated ther is currently no known motive for the shootings. The examination remains ongoing, and further details are expected to be released.
the incident prompted closures of several major traffic routes Thursday, including all westbound lanes of Interstate 240 at Bryant Avenue, along with the westbound I-240 on-ramps from Bryant and Eastern Avenues. The northbound Interstate 35 ramp to eastbound I-240 was also closed.
