Kendrick Lamar and ‘South Park‘ Movie Release Date Delayed Again
The highly anticipated comedy film from South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, featuring Kendrick Lamar, has once again had its release date pushed back. Park County and pgLang announced they are “re moving (again),” and are “working hard at finishing the movie.”
Originally slated for March 20, 2026, the film’s new theatrical release date remains unconfirmed. The delay stems from scheduling conflicts related to Lamar’s co-headlining tour with SZA and Parker and Stone’s ongoing work on the 28th installment of South Park. This marks the project’s first publicly announced release shift, impacting Paramount Pictures’ film slate and fans eager to see the collaboration between the animated series’ creators and the Grammy-winning rapper.
The untitled film is being produced by Lamar and Dave Free through their company PGLang, and by Stone and Parker for Park County. Vernon Chatman penned the script. Paramount’s Brian Robbins previously hailed the screenplay as “one of the funniest and most original scripts we’ve ever read,” announcing production would begin in summer 2023.
Parker and Stone created South Park in 1997 and are also known for 2004’s Team America: World Police and the Tony-winning musical The Book of Mormon. Lamar has experienced a busy period, including headlining Super Bowl LVIII and winning five Grammys at the 2025 ceremony, and recently received nine additional Grammy nominations for 2026.
